Split From Grand Blanc Township in 1855
Benjamin "Uncle Ben" Pearson was the first landowner in the Mount Morris area, settling in May 1833. The township didn't become its own government until 1855, when it split away from the original Grand Blanc Township — and it took its name from the New York hometown of many of its early settlers.
